Christmas: Season of Joy and Gift-giving

Christmas is the time of the year which we all wait for eagerly. People from other countries come home to their families to spend the holiday season with their loved ones. Filipinos celebrate Christmas weeks ahead with the colorful decorations inside and outside their houses, decorating Christmas tree and purchasing gifts for loved ones. Christmas is a time for family get-togethers, gifts and Santa – children’s favorite part during Christmas.

However, Christmas 2021 will be very different just like the Christmas last 2020 because of the ongoing pandemic. This deadly disease has already claimed many lives. With all the restrictions and social gathering norms, it is likely that this year has to spend another holiday season away from friends and extended family. We have to follow the protocols in order to keep everyone safe. Even though, this holiday season will be different and difficult for many, but for us Filipinos, this is the time that we must help each other and treasure the moment we share with them. The spirit behind Christmas is joy and gift-giving.

It is the most wonderful time of the year, and we must not forget that we are celebrating the birth of Christ. A time for us to understand the lessons from Jesus and reflect on them. The real celebration of Christmas is that no matter how things are going, God is with you. So, we must always remember that even we are facing a pandemic this Christmas, God will always be there to guide and protect us.

Let us make everyday a Christmas day to have a peaceful environment. May we always live to the essence of Christmas. The year 2020 and 2021 has been different for us in many ways but make it as special as you can and hope that next year will be a greater year for all of us. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!

  1. Hello and Merry Christmas! I agree with you in this blog; Christ was born on the 25th of December and this tells us that He is always with us and that there is always hope. Despite the pandemic, we're still joyful this season and we should carry on with it, as long as we follow the protocols.

  2. Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. I could not agree more. Christmas is not just any regular holiday, out of all holidays it is the most special and the most important holiday that we should never ever miss. It may not be at it's best because of the pandemic, but it's still Christmas..and as a child of GOD, we should celebrate and honor the birth of his child, our LORD Jesus Christ, our lord and saviour.

  3. I agree with you. During this pandemic there are many safety protocols we should follow to avoid the spread of the virus but we will still celebrate Christmas with joy and love inside our house with our family.
