Viva Vigan City: Bigueños New Way of Celebrating the Festivity
The Vigan City Fiesta is a celebration that is one of the most-awaited traditions in the city. It is celebrated every 25th of January and it is celebrated during the feast day of Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle, the Vigan City’s Patron Saint. Usually, Bigueños from all over the country and even abroad return to Vigan as it is the custom of Filipinos to return to their hometown and join their family and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. Vigan City Fiesta is composed of Arts, Crafts, Carnivals, and the most popular street dancing contest that represents the true spirit of fiesta.
During a pandemic, celebrations are very challenging because of the threat of COVID-19. Everyone
is having a hard time in adjusting in the new normal way of celebrating
festivals. We cannot do otherwise but to accept the reality and cope up with
the current situation. Vigan Fiesta 2021 was truly a different one. The City
Government celebrated it at a low-key festival to ensure the safety of
everyone. There were no more street dancings, parades, contests of arts and
crafts, and carnivals. Some may feel emotions of grief and sadness, but every
person should try to adjust to this new normal.
Celebrations are big part of our lives, and it gives us something to look forward to, lift our spirit up, and help us recognize the good things in life. Despite of the pandemic, we can still celebrate festivals but no the traditional way we used to. Instead, we can share moments to other people even when we cannot be together. In this time of crisis, don’t let sadness invade you, always be happy and think positive.
It's not as fun as before, but we can still celebrate the Vigan City Fiesta in alternative ways at our homes. It's sad that there cannot be any carnivals, street dancing and other festivities, but it's best to prioritize our safety and health first! Your post have been informative and gave a message to your readers to stay happy and think positive. Great job!
ReplyDeleteIt is sad because many events were cancelled due to the virus and the way we celebrate Vigan City Fiesta is very different now because of the pandemic.
