Binatbatan Festival of Arts: A Tapestry of Culture and Arts Woven by a Miracle
Counting the days since everything seemed to change in a blink of an eye, where every aspect of the way we normally live have transformed into a new definition of normalcy.
The adjustment of people’s daily routinary activity has been basically achieved. Thus, including the greater aspects, particularly in political and economical and more specifically, in livelihood wherein providing the desires and necessities were worked out by the public. On the other hand, in the phase of culture, we cannot deny the fact that some of the practices we used to perform were limited in a manner that large crowd of gatherings were restricted as a compliance to the measures of mitigating the spread of COVID-19. Yet, in grabbing the opportunity for the loose of strict restrictions, our very popular Vigan City paved its way to celebrate the “Binatbatan Festival of the Arts” for the second time in our journey through the new normal. As a student, I perceive this as a positive action as it odes not only indicate that we are rising up through our battle against the challenges of the pandemic but likewise, it proves that we have never disregarded our culture and heritage. It manifests that we, as Ilocanos represent the strength and unity to showcase the richness of our culture and arts. Moreover, it is a tapestry of culture and arts woven by a miracle because of our resiliency. Indeed, the “Binatbatan Festival of the Arts” is not just simply all about treasuring and preserving culture, but it is also a sign or other way of saying, “we fight, we can, we celebrate”.
Therefore, it is a great quote to assert from B.W. Beecher, “that is true culture which helps us to work for the social betterment of all.”.
